Day number 1 out on the town!

So today was very VERY productive. We traveled to Eric's work as well as my work so that we could get a feel for how to use the MTR and which stations to get on and off at. The Hong Kong public transit system is absolutely AMAZING. It's so easy to get from one place to another and only costs about 50 cents USD to go anywhere!...even Disneyland. :) We were seriously so impressed.

We made it to Eric's work in no time at all and it was extremely easy to find. Got to meet some of his other managers and they were all very nice, one was a girl named Mel from Hawaii and the other was a dude named Josh from London. They talked about places to go out downtown and it sounds like they take pretty good care of the ladies out here! Ladies night in Wan Chai (where we're staying) on Wednesdays and Ladies Night in LKF (Lan Kwai Fong) on Thursdays. The great thing about Ladies night is...it's free cover AND drinks..all night long. so cool! Mel also told us that the bars don't close..which means that people stay out till the morning and they will still serve you alcohol..holy crap. SO dangerous!! lol. Looks like we have to put our big boy/girl pants on! :P

After stopping by Eric's work we grabbed a quick bite to eat at the mall and geeeeeez laweeeeez it was so yummy!! Jealous that Eric will be able to eat there every day :/ From there we traveled to my work over on the Kowloon side, it's a bit more of a journey but just as easy to navigate. We didn't think anybody would be in the office but we went up anyways to check it out. Then right as we get off the elevator we see Josh (our sales manager) and realize that there's quite a few people in the office..on a Sunday..that makes me nervous. Hopefully they don't expect any crazy work ethic? ;)

After having Pete (the owner of Zing) talk to us a bit about the best ways to get around and how to bank and everything, we went down to "3" the local wireless company. Apparently they have the best plans, but it's super difficult to get set up with a phone and a contract...although it is MUCH cheaper than the US, which is freaking awesome. Luckily, Pete will be setting us up through his company plan and he'll take what we owe him out of my paycheck once a month. This makes it so much easier because there are a lot of start up fees. (In Hong Kong, you prepay your phone and first month of service..but service fees are about $30 USD/ month). So the good news is that Eric and I will be getting our brand new iPhone 5's tomorrow! woohoooooo. We already picked out our numbers and everything and Pete said that if we pay an extra $5USD/month we get free international calls..which seems ridiculously cheap, but we'll vibe with it. -- this also means that Mom, I do not need to use your upgrade in February :P

From my work we walked around the Kowloon side for a bit, then decided to head to Central, where the crazy partying happens at Lan Kwai Fong..we wanted to check it out :). Central is probably the busiest part of Hong Kong, there are a bunch of street vendors and huge shopping malls on every block. I'm not even joking, there is a shopping mall EVERY block. so dangerous ;)

After a full day feeling pretty confident on how to get around, we finally headed home around 4pm. Got off on the Wan Chai stop and somehow took a wrong exit from the MTR..we got lost for about an hour walking around. Luckily we remembered a few random streets and a couple of landmarks and we were DEFINITELY lucky we had eachother! We made it home after a long day and started watching Twilight..not quite sure why it stayed on as long as it did..but it was the only thing on. Most channels are in English though! Which is nice :)

Eric and I start work tomorrow, Eric starts at 8am and I start..whenever. I lucked out and get to be picked up by a coworker because I have my huge iMac with me that I need to bring into work, so nice! :) We'll post more pictures tomorrow! Love you all
